Sydney is a well-rounded student athlete who excels both academically and athletically. Her goals include obtaining a degree in Kinesiology/ Sports Medicine or Phys. Ed after successfully graduating from a well acclaimed university program. Currently holding a 3.7 GPA, Sydney is applying for admission to universities and colleges for the Fall 2013 that matches a competitive golf program with good academic standards. Through dedication and countless hours of practice, Sydney has lowered her handicap to 6.1 In 2011, Sydney had an exceptional year of results. She won a Regional High School Qualifier tournament, placed 3rd at the Regional High School Championships qualifying her the Provincial High School Championships. Despite the tough conditions, Sydney shot an 82, placing her 11th out of 120+ girls. While playing on the Barrie Area mini-tour (BAGS Tour), Sydney finished first overall, winning an impressive 8 of 12 tournaments and never finishing lower than 2nd., Sydney was chosen to represent the BAGS Tour at the Ontario Junior Tours Championships, where she shot a score of 78, finishing 4th individually. She competed in several Golf Association of Ontario (GAO) tournaments qualifying for the Ontario Junior Girls Championship (19 and under), shooting rounds of 84, 84 and 87, finishing 44th overall . As well, she also qualified for the Ontario Juvenile (16 and under) Girls Championship last year where she finished 19th overall. At the end of the season Sydney’s handicap was down to 8.3. So far in the 2012 season, Sydney has continued to work on her game and has lowered her handicap to the current 6.1. She has consistently been shooting between 78 and 84 on course lengths of over 5800 yards as she prepares for a college career. Sydney has won 4 of 5 BAGS tour events this year with low scores and achieved a personal best 73 at a recent event. She is also a member of the Maple Leaf Junior Tour where she placed 5th in her only event so far this year. Recently, Sydney competed in 2012 GAO Junior Girls Championships and improved everyday finishing with a final round 79. She expects to play in several more tournaments this summer and fall. She has worked with Liam Mucklow and Kyle Freer of the Golf Lab for the past 3 years. Coach Kyle Freer of The Golf Lab comments that, "Sydney is a very dedicated worker and takes direction very well. Her strength is her ability to stay focused and work on a single task. She has a very positive attitude towards golf and life and is a pleasure to work with. I have full confidence in her ability to continue to work hard and make many improvements to her game." She has written her SAT n May and scored 1080. She is currently planning on re-writing the SAT in 2012 and will look to improve on that score.
