Matthew is a well balanced student athlete who is able to manage his time between academics and his soccer commitments extremely well. He plans to pursue a degree in computers in the Fall 2015 that matches a competitive soccer program with high academic standards. Matthew is a defender who is extremely versatile playing in the middle or on either side. Possessing both the physical and technical ability to play anywhere across the defense in the 3 or 4 system. His main duties include the zone defense, where he covers a specific area of the pitch, and man to man marking, where he has the job of covering a certain player. Matthew also provides an attacking dimension by getting up field along the wings providing crosses. His strong physical presence, aggressive tackling, anticipation, and ability to read the play make him a valuable asset. Matthew is currently playing left back with the ANB Futbol Academy who have played several games in Europe and will be attending several showcases this year. Matthew has an excellent tactical understanding and often thinks ahead of the ball to anticipate passes and opportunities to steal possession. . Matthew has a great work ethic as he is focused and trains with intensity at each practice. He is a great motivator and a team player. Matthew is also very coachable and is liked by all of his colleagues. He will be a great asset to any collegiate program for the Fall 2015.
