Matthew is an accomplished student athlete. His main objective is to find scholarship placement at a college or university in the Fall 2015 that meets his athletic and academic criteria. Matthew wants to extend his soccer career and play at a top rated NCAA program while receiving a quality education in business or kinesiology Matthew is a physically strong defender whose strong defending and tackling skills make him extremely versatile to play right fullback, left fullback or sweeper. His vision, intelligence, and tactical awareness make him a leader in the backfield. Matthew is one of the top defenders in the province playing for the provincial team since 2011. He has played in Italy at Chievo Verona in the summer 2013, and won the Ontario Cup several times with a silver medal at Nationals with Vaughan Azzuri. He has been playing for Vaughan Azzuri since 2010 and has been the leader in the backfield helping them secure many victories establishing them as one of the premiere teams in the OYSL. Among Matthew’s physical attributes are size, strength, speed, power and endurance. He has the prototypical size of an elite soccer player and uses his strength and speed to good advantage. Matthew shows his commitment to the sport by following a strict training regimen and maintaining a high level of fitness. His knowledge of the game is excellent. Matthew has a high soccer IQ and plays the game in a cerebral manner. He uses this to good advantage as exhibited by his superior speed of play; he anticipates well based on her advanced perception speed and reaction time. Matthew has an extraordinary ability to make challenging decisions look easy in tight situations and to execute them at a high speed of play. His vision, awareness and inventiveness are combined with excellent technical skill. Matthew would be an excellent candidate for a college or university program as he possesses the ability, intrinsic motivation, physical constitution and academic prowess to succeed. Matthew is currently in his senior year of high school where he has maintained a 3.3 honour roll status.
